About the TWD Programs Guide

This is an independent guide to research training, workforce development and diversity programs in US biomedical science. It is not a government site and it does not speak for anyone who funds or runs those programs.

Who runs this site?

The TWD Programs Guide is written and maintained by a small independent editorial team with no affiliation to NIH, NIGMS, FASEB or any institution that holds a training award. We don't accept payment from programs, we don't sell services to applicants, and there are no ads or affiliate links.

Is this the official TWD meeting site?

No. From 2013 to 2019 this domain hosted pages for the NIGMS Training, Workforce Development, and Diversity Program Directors' Meetings and related postdoctoral workshops. Those pages and that role ended. The domain relaunched in 2026 under new, independent management with no connection to the organizations that used it before.

We keep short, factual meeting history pages at the old addresses so that links in reports and CVs still work. They don't reproduce the old agendas, speaker lists or photographs, and they never offer registration.

Why does this site exist?

Between 2019 and 2026 the map of NIH training programs changed more than in the previous two decades: programs were renamed, split, merged, terminated and replaced. Program directors, students, alumni and administrators still search for MARC, IMSD, RISE, PREP and the rest, and often find out-of-date pages. We try to give a clear, dated account of what each program was and where it stands now, plus a few tools for jobs that come up every cycle.

How do we check facts?

  • Program status comes from NIGMS program listings, NIH Guide notices and funding announcements. Each program page shows the date we last checked it (most recently in November 2026).
  • Where we rely on reporting rather than an official notice, for example on the 2025 terminations, we say so and cite it.
  • When we can't verify something, such as the dates of some 2018 workshops, we leave it out rather than guess.
  • We don't name or picture private individuals.

Corrections

If something is wrong or out of date, email contact@twdprograms.org with the page and a source. We fix factual errors and update the page date.
